Brad and Tiffany visit Australia - Day 4

My apologies for the last post - I got Day 4 and Day 7 mixed up!

Here is the actual Day 4 :)

We chilled for most of the morning before heading out to West End. It's become my thing - if you visit me, I will take you there. More importantly, I will take you to 3 Monkeys. It's my favourite little coffee and tea house ever, even though I don't drink coffee or tea. I go there for the decor and the Turkish Delight. I swear it's made by the White Witch of Narnia. I never liked Turkish Delight until I tasted it here. I always get one to eat, and then at least one to take-away to bring home to my Dad. Poor Dad. He never used to have to share Turkish Delight in our house.

Anyway, here are the photos :)

After 3 Monkeys we went for a walk. I am falling in love with street photography. I just wish I could get over my fear and photograph people in the streets.

This place was for lease. I would LOVE to live upstairs and have a studio/gallery/store/cafe downstairs.

Brad and Tiffany visit Australia - Days 3 & 4

Day 3 we looked into going to Australia Zoo, but it was a bit too expensive and a bit of a drive from our place, so we went to Lone Pine Koala Sanctuary to cuddle koalas, play with the kangaroos, talk to cockatoos and chase bush turkeys! :)

The cockatoo had been taught by a visitor to say "Scratch", so when we stopped at his cage he climbed down, pressed himself up against the cage and said "Scratch." So I did. Then a keeper told me that he would bite me. So I stopped. These cockatoos were so funny though, and Brad and Tiffany thought it was even funnier that they had Australian accents! :) Videos here and here.

Oh, I die with this next photo! The way the koala is looking at her! Too cute!

We called this guy "The Godfather". He just looks the part!

After visiting most of the animals we went to feed the kangaroos. I had forgotten how soft they were!

We used to live on 150 acres in Calliope and usually had wallabies and kangaroos in our backyard, but mostly just females. Sometimes, though, a big male would join them, and we would avoid going outside because they can be quite mean. (I've been mildly attacked by a kangaroo - I think that makes me more Australian than most!) So seeing this guy coming towards us (we had the food!) was a little scary! He was all right though, it just took some getting used to the fact that we could actually touch him. Look at his muscles!

After the zoo we went to the cemetery, just because we could... and because we're weird :)

Brad and Tiffany visit Australia - Days 1 & 2

It's been a big two weeks - my friends Brad and Tiffany visited here from the States for 10 days, and then my friend Courtney came for 4 days. I feel like the holiday is over and it's back to reality now. But I'm reliving the fun by posting about it! :)

Day 1, Brad and Tiff arrived early in the morning. We had breakfast and mooched around the house for a while, not wanting to throw them into the deep end of tourist-ness (yes, it's a word) on their first day of jet-lag. We did go for a quick drive up to Mt Coot-tha where I only took two photos. That's terrible I know.

The next day we took a train into the city. It was rainy and cold, but still good.

 

Mmmmm... I am so sugared out, let me tell you.

 We had hours of fun with these teeth!

We played with Just Jeans' Butt-Cam! (Don't know why it won't let me embed...) and learned to play the didgeridoo (sort of).

Graham Pampling is a regular busker in Queen St Mall. He is blind and plays amazing saxophone.

We stopped for a bite to eat...

 

...and way too much fun with this dinosaur!

 

A quick stop into the museum, again way too much fun with the dinosaurs, and then we headed home.

Shot to the Heart 12

These photos aren't taken by me, but I love them anyway because of the people in them and the memories. This week I had friends from America and my friend Courtney come visit. It was amazing and so much fun. I will be blogging about all the goodness this week :)
